2000 S’s.
Movies at the drive in…
Liberty Walk
Stuck on 2011
So, in lieu of the usual best songs of the year thing that I have done in the past, I’ll just give you all a little list of the things that really made my year.
In no particular order;
Home ownership – this was the first year that we’ve owned our own house. It’s sunk in that we’re really doing it and coming to terms with what that means. If you haven’t bought a house, and are thinking about it. Nows still a good time. I could reccomend a couple of agents.
Deadmau5 – On everyone’s list. I’ve liked this Canadian dance wizard for a while, but really dug in this year. I really need to see this dude live. Ghosts N Stuff stays stuck in my head even if it’s a little old nowadays.
Epic Meal Time – Chicken Burger Merger Burger / Bacon weaves / and candied bacon. Nuff said.
Freddie Wong – Eboun put me up on this guy early in the year, and I really got obsessed for a while after a collaboration with Epic Meal Time (see above). He’s a CA special effects guy with a ton of youtube presence. He does short films that are usually nerdy/hilarious.
Breaking Bad – If you’re not watching this show, then you’ve fucked up. Simple and plain. Not sure what’s wrong with you, but you need to get up to speed. The 5th and final season is coming in 2012 and I’m scratching my neck like a junkie as I wait. If you didn’t already know that Meth ruined lives, this show will show you how many ways it can do it.
The Hunger Games – Written for the younger crowd, but this is a great story. All three books move quickly, and are gripping. The first book is being released as a movie for 2012, so read the book sooner than later if you want a head start.
Lincoln Towncar – Love my lincoln.
Victory 44 – Liz and Andy Vu put us up on Victory 44. It’s a dope eatery in N. Minneapolis (yes, there’s more than just ghettofabulous garbage in N. Mpls) that serves amazing, thoughtful, different food. I was just there the other day and the menu was completely different from my prior visits.
Speedhunters dot com – great automotive photography and an insight to racing and car culture around the world. They’re run by some of the same folks who brought you Need For Speed gaming series.

My iPad – it was an impulse buy that I thought I was going to instantly regret. WRONG. I’m far from being an apple fanboy (my PC is my main entertainment center) but this thing is as genius as they all say it is. As long as you get apps that will actually be useful, there’s no reason an iPad couldn’t replace half of the stuff you use to do… …anything! Mine is a cookbook, laptop, notebook, hard drive, TV, mall, beat laboratory, etc.

Twitter – In my on again/off again relationship with social media Twitter still works for me. If you’ve been trying to friend me on facebook, it’s not that I don’t like you, it’s just that FB is a waste of time. Twitter, is a time killer where you don’t have to commit to a darn thing. @DVRG is a funny cat. Find me @who_is_felix if you’re on there.
Top Gear – I think I’ve written enough about this show, but the new season is as good as any that came before it. That is to say it’s brilliant.
Rick Ross/MMG – Yeah I know. I was in Miami when Rozay blew up so perhaps my soft spot for the fat man still lingers. The Self Made album with Wale/Meek Mills/Pill was fresh and is still on heavy rotation in my headphones. Ambitious sounding rap has a way of grabbing you. It’s really interesting to hear Wale do the “rich rapper” flow while trying to hold on to his “concious rapper” fanbase. I need to pick up his solo record, which is apparently pretty good.
Miami Horror – Why had I missed them before? How? House music is still a big deal in our household and these guys have some pretty awesome stuff. I was introduced to them with a music video. Enjoy;
Family Guy – before moving out of our apartment, Family Guy was an evening routine. If we missed it, it felt like something was wrong that day.
