1 hour and 2 minutes.
I pedaled hard and made it home in 1hr and 2min last night after work. Then I collapsed on the couch. I really love my work commute on a bike. It’s so pretty. Ft. Snelling State Park always has deer. Minnehaha Falls is always so green. Cut across S. Minneapolis and go under the Guthrie. Good times.
Can’t wait to move to St. Paul though. We’ve been house hunting and I spend a LOT of my day on MLS. We’ll see how the bike commute changes from there. Wherever there is.
Ants. I forgot about those. They’re trying to move into my house. I’ll feed them tasty poisons.
Back to the 50′s – The show – Part 1
Well, yesterday at 7am, we met up and rolled out. Actually we walked in to the Back to the 50′s car show. This is the biggest hot rod show in the world and I’m so proud that it happens in my back yard. We spent seven hours or so wandering around as a roving camera gang so if you see a car you like, check out Andor 2000′s website, Keiths website, or maybe even Phill’s website for a different angle. Also, I may just have different angles if you own one of these cars and want more. Drop me a comment.
I rode my bike to work today. First time this year.
So, today, for the first time this year, I rode my bike to work. It feels good to be this awake at my desk so early in the morning. If only it were so easy to leave the house on a bike at 5:30am. I got to work and did the www.mapmyride.com thing to see what sort of workout it is, and if you are to believe the website, I burned 918 calories before even getting to my desk this morning. Not so shabby.

Mom’s SINGER
So, yesterday while waiting for someone to show up at my moms to buy some wheels I was getting rid of, I decided to take a few shots of my moms current quilt project and her old Singer Sewing Machine. This thing is older than I am. It’s awesome. She says it works better than her new machine so why stop using it? This thing is the 54 Chevy of the sewing world. Your mom wants one.
Here’s her current project….
The Formula 1 Season Just Got Started
So yesterday I went over to my mom’s house and hung out with my brother. He recorded the first round of Formula 1 in Bahrain. For this year there have been some changes in Formula 1 and I am conflicted about some of them. The big one that every one is grumbling about is the no refueling rule that has been instated. These cars weigh 1300 pounds and this means that they are all starting the race with approximately 300 pounds worth of extra fuel weight on that little chassis. This makes the going very slow for most of the race. On one hand, it makes for lightning fast pit stops, on the other; it makes for slower driving…. I’m not sure I like that but we’ll see how strategies are effected. Tires are narrower, why? There seems to be no logical reason for this. Also, you have to start every race with the same tire you qualified on. I will go on record as saying I actually like this rule. It should make things interesting the first time the weather on race day is questionable. Will people be qualifying on wet tires on a sunny qualifying day? We’ll see….
At any rate, I like this track. It’s got slow spots and it’s got fast areas. Dust can be a problem though.
There were a few big stories at the track and you can’t get around the big one. Michael Schumacher has returned to Formula 1 to pursue an 8th World Championship. This time he’s running with Mercedes which is where he started.
Another story (that has been overshadowed by the return of Schumacher) is the return of Filipe Massa after his horrific accident mid season last year. For those who don’t know, he had a piece of debris from the race track cut right through his helmet. His car then T-Boned a wall at 170mph. His status as a living being was in question, let alone his driving career. Massa took second place in this weekend’s race. Congrats!
Ultimately, it was Fernando Alonso (old photo) who would take the first place spot in his debut with Ferrari. It was a Ferrari 1-2 to kick off the season. I can’t wait for the next round…
