Well, yesterday at 7am, we met up and rolled out.  Actually we walked in to the Back to the 50′s car show.  This is the biggest hot rod show in the world and I’m so proud that it happens in my back yard.  We spent seven hours or so wandering around as a roving camera gang so if you see a car you like, check out Andor 2000′s website, Keiths website, or maybe even Phill’s website for a different angle.  Also, I may just have different angles if you own one of these cars and want more.  Drop me a comment.

If you have been reading along over the last week, the soundtrack has been provided by Keith Schoeler of http://www.kaizophoto.com/.  A former DJ/Promoter, Keith is now an accomplished photographer and a fellow member of TMF Opposition (http://www.tmfopposition.com/).

This past week has been my first shot at having a guest blogger.  I think it’s fun to have someone else pick the music because I am surprised by what awesome stuff get’s picked.  Keith – a SPECIAL thank you for Wednesday’s pic.  You can ask Heiruspecs how geeked out I was when I got your email and saw Sunshine People as a pick.

Next week – pics by DJ Jimmy 2 Times on some Hip Hop shit.  Stay tuned!

Nothing I pick here is going to make me happy, too many I could have included but this will have to do. Seems fitting to pick this track (and video) to follow Entra Mi Casa and the release date is in the same neighborhood as my departure from the scene.

This is another banger of a track, nothing you’d start a set off with. It has some great Tech-House elements with a classic French feel too. (For the puritans, this is out of Belgium.) Was surprised to see a produced video for this. Interesting.

For those that followed along, hope you enjoyed some of these. It was fun for me to relive a few musical memories. Drop a comment if you feel I missed something crucial.

You decide. Almost Ghetto House, definitely Latin, definitely Tribal…definitely good. I’m not a huge Armand Van Helden fan but you have to admit he has some hits. This track in particular was huge for the “shocking” vocals and the late, unexpected tweaked horns. Those horns, that beat, the underlying percussion. Ugh, I’m banging my head listening to it while I type this right now. I really hope you’re listening with some good speakers to pick up the full effect. You totally forgot about those vocals, didn’t you? And that’s why the track is so good. The porno sample idea has been used way too often and is rarely pulled off. I love exceptions that prove the rule.

Yeah. See my description for Tues. I’m a Trance DJ at heart, I can’t escape bass lines or booming synths. This has a great emotional yet disco feel to it with a breakdown that will move even the most hardened music critic.

This is another track that is victim to the remix plague. There are dozens out there that destroy most of what is good about the original cut. Stick with the original I say. Classic never goes out of style.

Oooh, it’s even an elusive white label! Ha.

Wow. This takes me back. We used to have a dance night at a club called Ground Zero where I later went on to be a resident at. Our friend Chris (different Chris!!) used to drop this all the time and the crowd would eat it up. This is one of the first tracks I distinctly remember hearing a lot of effects being used. No coincidence, it was one of the earlier popular tracks out of France on the Versatile label. Well, early to me.

For some reason I had a hard time thinking that there could be good House out of a place like France. The Roule label eventually changed my mind. Makes sense I suppose.

I couldn’t believe this was actually on YouTube.

Now we’re talking. This is the kind of stuff that literally gives me goose bumps when that chorus hits. Strong latin vocal house without being pushy or overbearing. Super simple and super catchy piano . Great bass line, something always underused and underappreciated in House. I can’t ever get enough of it. It was my ringtone for two years – and I am NOT a ringtone kind of guy.

Yep, Ghetto House. I wanted to use an old DJ Funk track and tell a story about how I’ve seen him play horrible a dozen times and then destroyed the floor at The Quest one night (that’s the good kind of destroy), but then I remembered this track and it trumps it. Sorry Funk.

This track is on the level of Stardust. It’s not nearly as good musically, but every high school girl knows this track. You can’t deny it moved the floor in it’s prime and brought a smile to your face.

This particular video was a strong factor as well.
